Rejoicing for Answered Prayer

           Bob Branski had been diagnosed with cancer and received several treatments from the doctor and he asked the church to be praying for him.  This last week the doctor examined him and declared him to be cancer free!  Bob gives all the praise to the Lord!

           We also received a call from Deborah Graham who asked Cheryl and I to go with her to pray for one of her friends who had been in constant pain after having surgery several months earlier.  We met at the ladies home and had prayer and after our prayer she looked surprised and exclaimed, “That burned!”  The next day, Deborah sent an email to us telling us the lady was rejoicing that she was able to be out in the yard and walk around without pain!  That is supernatural … the miraculous power of God in healing!

            That should make us all want to join the Apostle Paul in his rejoicing in Romans:

Romans 11:33-36

33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

34 "For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?"

35 'Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him?"

36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

            The Apostle Paul was educated in theology, a scholar who was on the short list to lead the nation of Israel, and a man who became thrilled at the miraculous presence and power of God after he came to know Jesus Christ as his savior!  In Romans he had been teaching on the sovereignty of God, and had just written the word about “the gifts and callings of God are without repentance” when he began to rejoice in the Lord and wrote these wonderful words of praise!

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! … For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

            Have you stopped and praised the Lord lately?  God’s work in your life is just as miraculous and supernatural as the healing in the life of Deborah’s friend!  The greatest miracle that can ever happen is for you to receive forgiveness of your sins and become adopted into God’s family!  If you haven’t done that … why not do that today!

            Again, while the Apostle Paul was teaching the church of Ephesus about redemption, salvation, adoption into God’s family, and our eternal hope in Christ Jesus, he became involved in praying for them …

Ephesians 3:16, 20-21

16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

            He got excited as he told them about the depth, the width, and the height of the love of God and he ended his prayer with these wonderful words:

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

            He got excited!  Glory!  Forever and ever!  The Lord Jesus Christ, our God, the Creator of the Universe, is worthy of all praise!  He made the sun and the moon, the galaxies, the stars, and the whole universe!  The more science has attempted to prove the universe came from some kind of accidental big bang; the more they are faced with the reality of some kind of Intelligent Design!  The intelligent designer has a name!  His name is Jesus!

Our God is the only god has the righteous authority to judge the whole earth and save Noah and his family from the Flood.

Our God has the right to choose to bless Abraham and announce to him that “everyone who blesses him will be blessed, and everyone who curses him will be cursed!”

Our God choose Abraham and his children … the nation of Israel … and the power and authority of Pharaoh in Egypt could not restrain the plan of God!

God put the Super in Supernatural!

Our God parted the Red Sea so Israel could cross the sea on dry land!

He provided food and water for them for forty years in the desert!

When Israel entered the Promised Land they rejoiced that their clothing and their shoes had not worn out during their journey across the desert!

Our God caused the walls of Jericho to fall down flat;

He caused the sun to stand still over the Valley of Aijalon for an extended day for Israel’s victory.  They had victory after victory!

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Samson, Samuel, David, Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, and all the prophets of old had miraculous, supernatural events happen in their lives as God demonstrated His love, His wisdom, His righteousness, and His power in their lives!  And our God has not changed!  The Word of God says:

Heb 13:8

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Our God came to earth as a baby from Mary’s womb, a miraculous birth!  It was supernatural!  Jesus lived a sinless life, healed the sick, raised the dead, performed miracles, cast out demons, He set the captive free, gave sight to the blind, and proclaimed the acceptable year of the Lord for salvation!

Jesus was crucified, buried, and on the third day He was raised from the dead!  His birth, His life, and His resurrection are miraculous!  God put the Super in Supernatural!

            Would you join me and agree with the Apostle Paul in rejoicing!

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! … For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

            The power of God that was flowing in the life of Jesus did not stop when Jesus was received back into heaven.  The early church manifested the same miraculous, supernatural power of God as the Book of Acts recounts the stories of how the lame walked, blind eyes were opened, the dead were raised, and thousands upon thousands placed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord!

            The history of the Church from that time until now has had those who would believe in the miraculous, supernatural power of God!   If Jesus is your savior, you have experienced a miracle!  In addition, we have stories from our own congregation of those who have been healed and miracles have happened in their life!  God put the Super in Supernatural!

            One of the half-brothers of Jesus penned these words of praise!

Jude 24-25

NOW UNTO HIM WHO IS ABLE,

TO KEEP YOU FROM FALLING,

AND TO MAKE YOU STAND IN HIS PRESENCE,

BLAMELESS AND WITH GREAT JOY;

TO THE ONLY GOD OUR SAVIOUR,

THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD;

BE THE GLORY AND THE MAJESTY,

DOMINION AND AUTHORITY,

BOTH NOW AND EVER, AMEN!

You are invited to receive from Jesus today!  He is still the Super in the Supernatural!
